Parrett joined the board in 2010. She concentrates her practice in corporate and regulatory insurance law and guaranty fund law. “Her knowledge and insight have been invaluable for us as a company and for our board,” says President and CEO Katja Kunzke. “When considering new ideas on how to better serve our policyholders or improve different business procedures, Noreen was always there to let us know how to do it within the framework of Wisconsin insurance regulations. The regulatory structure can be a maze of rules, but Noreen always knew how to get us through that maze,” Kunzke added. “And on top of that, she’s a pleasure to work with. We will miss her.”

Parrett said in this year’s WILMIC Annual Report that when she joined the board ten years ago, she knew insurance regulators viewed the company as financially sound and reliable, but she discovered that policyholders do too.

As for her work on the board, Parrett says it’s been a great experience. “The board works as a team. Members always discuss topics thoroughly and every member has the chance to air their views with the group. To me, that is a measure of success.”

Parrett has assisted Wisconsin’s domestic insurance industry in corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, demutualizations, recapitalizations and formations.

Her practice also includes representing domestic and foreign insurers before the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance on the holding company act and other corporate issues, on policy forms and rates issues, compliance issues and in enforcement actions.

She has worked for many years with insurance trade associations on insurance issues in Wisconsin both in analyzing legislative and regulatory proposals and in developing and drafting legislation and regulations on behalf of the industry. She also works with Wisconsin’s guaranty fund and the national associations for guaranty funds on various corporate and regulatory issues.

Noreen graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1988.
