WI Supreme Court Chief Justice Patience Roggensack has formed a COVID-19 task force to focus on ways state courts can continue operating safely during the current coronavirus pandemic.

The panel will include judges from a number of counties around the state, medical consultants, circuit court clerks, county corporation counsels, district attorneys, public defenders and county sheriffs.

The task force will work on a framework for future court proceedings, including jury trials, and will meet by video conference.

All in-person court proceedings, including jury trials, are currently postponed through May 22, 2020. Courts are operating through email, teleconferencing and video conferences.

County courts are expected to use the task force guidelines to create their own written plans for safe court operations depending on their own facilities and resources.
